Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, the Marlboro First Aid Squad
provides emergency medical services (EMS) to the residents of Marlboro,
those who work and play in our town and those who are "just passing
through." Composed of volunteers from 16 and up and from all walks of life,
the First Aid Squad provides aid to those in need at no cost. The Squad
relies on donations to cover operational expenses.
The Marlboro First Aid Squad is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization separate from the Township of Marlboro. Unlike other emergency services in town, we do not rely on tax dollars for our daily operating expenses, and none of our members are paid for their work. Our expenses involve vehicle and equipment purchases and maintenance, training, supplies and the like.
Founded in 1971, the Squad has changed with advances in emergency medical service techniques and technology; for example, basic life support agencies could not use defibrillators in New Jersey until the mid 1990s. But our goal has remained the same: to provide the highest quality care to our patients
While donations are always welcome and appreciated, the Squad's greatest need is people. Members are the most important ingredient in the mix needed to provide quality care to our patients. No prior experience is needed. The Squad will provide the training, either in-house or by paying the cost associated with training programs run by other organizations in the area, from your initial training through EMT certification as well as continued education. Membership requirements are: age 16 or older, good physical health and interest in helping others. The First Aid Squad provides all the training.
“When you see the back of a Marlboro First Aid Squad ambulance you can be sure that someone will be helped, is being helped or has been helped.”
Please don’t turn your back. Come forward, volunteer!
